The Display Window Archive (Schaufenster Archiv) presents the results of a comprehensive provenance research project carried out between 2022 and 2024 in collaboration with external specialists. It provides fascinating background information and introduces the public to the former owners of the works.
Between 2022 and 2024, the Langmatt Museum once again addressed the complex issues surrounding provenance and the associated potential claims to ownership of the paintings. With the help of external experts, the reverse sides of the works and a wealth of archival material were examined. The final reports of the project, which was supported by the Federal Office of Culture, were published at the end of 2024. In the current Display Window Archive, archival documents and research findings shed light on the subject. As the images in question are also on display in the Welcome Back exhibition on the ground floor, the Display Window Archive extends to that space as well, providing further information and background on the works and their former owners.
