BiglerWeibel

9.5.2026–13.9.2026

Jasmin Bigler (born in 1993 in Bern, lives there) and Nicole Weibel (born in 1990 in Niederhünigen, lives in Bern) have been working together as the duo BiglerWeibel since 2014. In their artistic practice, they explore space and the body, interweaving performance and digital media to create site-specific interventions from a distinctly female perspective.

As part of the comprehensive renovation of the Langmatt Museum, BiglerWeibel were invited to take part in a long-term, process-oriented art project. They were given carte blanche, with every freedom permitted within the context of the listed building. During the two-year renovation, they visited the building site from time to time to conduct research, take photographs or film. Their impressions and the material they gathered formed the basis for a multi-part video work, which was continuously developed in the studio.

The video installation in the former children’s bedroom, incorporating historical furniture from the collection, forms a light-footed, allusive conglomerate. BiglerWeibel engage with the turn-of-the-century upper-middle-class villa through a multifaceted artistic strategy with a distinctly feminine perspective, without resorting to simplistic criticism. With obvious delight in decontextualisation, BiglerWeibel challenge entrenched notions of upper-class living and transform the historic ensemble into a fluid stage set that makes you want to set off on a journey of discovery yourself.
